I know a bit boring, but a good basic book for reference and recipes.
In the beginning there were just eggs...

But then the idea of this cookbook hatched at my dinner table with Luke, Sophie and Luke’s friend Reed a few years ago.
One evening we were all having dinner and the conversation came up about what Reed had for dinner the night before. “Eggs” was the answer. I asked about the previous evening “eggs”...again? I ventured further and asked what he had for breakfast “cereal” he said “oh and eggs.”
That’s when it dawned on me…perhaps, just maybe, a cookbook for students and beginners would be a good thing. Not a “how to” book, but more of a “do.”
A good basic cookbook with a repertoire of recipes to build on. Nothing too difficult. No boring techniques to bog you down. Just the necessities for good cooking.
I’ll put together the basics and some with a twist, made with good ingredients that will not cost a huge amount. In the end it will be cheaper and healthier than buying already prepared food.
You can take these recipes and divide up the ingredients between friends; so the cost spreads out. Most dishes use just three pots or pans, so try and get good ones. The pots will last a lifetime and hold a lifetime of memories as well as your chow.
College, university and your first stab at life on your own shouldn't be filled with microwave trays and fast food…just this food fast.
I'm putting together our family favorites, the go to meals I make on a regular basis. The meals that get fist pumps from Luke and Soph when they walk through the door.
Enjoy and let me know your thoughts…Let’s get cracking!
